Microstructure Change, Nano-Hardness and Surface Modification of CN-G01 Beryllium Induced by Helium Ions

The helium effects in Chinese developed CN-G01 beryllium are important issues for its use nuclear energy systems. In this work, the samples were irradiated with ions to fluences of 5.0 × 1016 ions/cm2 1.0 1018 at room temperature and investigated by techniques scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission (TEM) nano-indentation. It was found that irradiation induced hardening nano-hardness increased increasing fluence 1017 ions/cm2. When reached ions/cm2, serious surface blistering burst. TEM observation bubbles damage peak region became visible when With fluence, larger connected into large cracks. underlying physical mechanisms discussed based on behavior low temperatures contributions defects. This work will provide some new understanding resistance temperatures.
